Would You Want to Clean Up a Crime Scene

Most people know that there are people who get paid to clean up after a crime as been committed. They are known as crime scene cleanup crews and their job is biohazard remediation. The rumor is that they do make a lot of money, but it takes a lot of preparation and safety measures to stay safe in an environment that is not suitable for other people to venture into.  Most who are a part of the cleanup crew say that it is not an easy job to handle. Do you think you would want to clean up a crime scene?

Those who deal with crime scene cleanup can make a pretty healthy sum of money. In larger cities, they may make up to $80,000 a year or more. Many of them get paid up to $150 per hour for a job and they can expect most jobs to last at least 10 hours. Some jobs may take a few days. However, this does mean that they must come into contact with a lot of nasty things, even stuff that may not be human related. They may be called in to deal with sewers that have backed up and contaminated the ground around them. They can be on duty in a hoarders house or an area where a lot of rodents and insects were found.

According to most people who have decided to take on this career, it is a very challenging one to handle. They say that even though the home they are cleaning is most often the home of someone who passed away, both naturally and through unexpected occurrences, they still get a sense of who that person was in life. This makes it difficult to not care and be at least a little upset over the condition of that person’s home. In many cases, and for most people, they choose to not really see what they are cleaning and they have no desire to know about what happened in that area while they are there.

It is a job that certainly does not make a person feel glamourous. They are the guys you see in hazmat suits that are designed to protect them from any bacteria and germs that may be on a scene. The suits are uncomfortable because they get very hot. Though even with the downside, it is still a great job if you have the stomach to handle it.
